It’s Officially Summer, and Preschool is Getting Ready for the 18–19 School Year!

July 03, 2018
  • The end of our school year finished with a flurry of activity for the kids and the teachers. We spent time celebrating with Pajama Day, taking nature walks around the church, Triangle Park and Lake Forest Beach. As we do every year, each child has a class yearbook that highlights events which took place during the school year. The children were so happy and excited to receive one; they could not wait to share it with their family. As teachers, we know they will keep these yearbooks forever and will always look back on them with such fond memories!

Another exciting event was the Art Appreciation program taught by Lindy Rubin. The class culminates with a field trip to the Art Institute for the Expedition and Odyssey classes. Lindy personally provides a tour to parents and children for one hour through the Art Institute to visit the artwork that she showed the students throughout the year. It is an exceptional event, and the children are always spellbound to view the actual artwork in the museum that Lindy has brought to them each month during the school year. Forty adults and children attended this wonderful experience. We are truly blessed to have Lindy Rubin as part of the First Presbyterian family as she makes this enriching experience come to life for the children.

At the end of school this year we offered our first Summer Enrichment program. It was on June 4 – 8, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and was filled with 10 of our preschool students! The children and teachers were lucky to have beautiful weather during the course of the program. The activities included making bubbles, digging for worms, investigating night crawlers, performing science experiments, learning about beekeeping and wrapping the week up with a nature walk to Triangle Park! The children were so happy each day to experience and learn something new. We all were sad when the week was over! For all those that participated, it was a wonderful experience and provided some fun-filled and happy memories.

Now that it is officially summer, we are getting ready for our 2018 – 19 school year! We currently have 64 students enrolled for next year, and we are eager for the new program with all classes in the morning and offering after-class extended day options for our students. The enrichment programs will be taught by our teachers and are STEM/STEAM based programs. Watch the website for upcoming details about our extended day options!
