Our annual Art Fair/Ryan Nyland Toy Drive was a huge success this year! We had very happy children excited to bring their parents, grandparents, siblings and friends to view their artwork!
This year our school chose to have one unit of study throughout the year to frame our curriculum and we chose the United States of America. Every age level interpreted this unit into their class in an age appropriate, creative and hands on approach in their exploration of the USA.
As an entire school project, we created an American flag as a representation of our study on the United States of America. The flag is comprised of 156 craft sticks created by all 64 children in the school. We will hang the flag at the entry of the school so that everyone can see their work.
In addition to the Art Fair, we held the 15th Annual Ryan Nyland Toy Drive. It is an event that brings toys to the Lurie’s Childrens Hospital. It is amazing to see the child’s faces fill with excitement when they see the gifts. They shared that most donations are monetary but to be able to actually hand deliver a toy to a child while at the hospital or upon their day of leaving is truly celebrated.
