We Are Inspired by Play Based Learning

August 07, 2024
  • Play is like a magical journey that takes us to the heart of joy, creativity, and learning. It’s not just for kids; adults love it too! Play helps us solve problems, fuels our imagination, and opens the door to a lifetime of learning. And the best part? It reduces stress, boosts our brain power, and makes our relationships stronger.

Because play-based learning relies on children’s authentic interest play is unstructured and flexible, welcoming children to engage with materials how, when and where they choose to. There are generally no rules, expectations or preconceived outcomes of their experiences.

Play-based learning allows children to embrace their everyday interests and curiosities through their unique approaches to learning. These open, ended experiences value the child’s process of imagination, exploration, and discovery. Adults may introduce toys and materials, but they allow for the child to lead their play how they choose.

Play is how children learn HOW to learn. When given all the time, space and materials children will enhance all domains of development to learn more about themselves and the world around them – all through their innate and unique approaches to learning. Meaningful hands-on century, rich experiences, fuel brain synapses, curiosity, understanding, and wonder.

As early childhood educators we are uniquely positioned here at FPP to prepare our children for achievement today and success tomorrow. The evidence continues to mount that playful pedagogies are an accessible, powerful tool that harness all the pillars of learning.
