Summertime at the preschool is always a busy time for our staff. This year, we have had our two-week Summer Enrichment program running, which has been a huge success. The program ran from June 3 to June 14 and our students had a great time with several different activities. They participated in nature walks, studied worms, and learned about beekeeping from one of our teachers who enjoys being a bee keeper in her spare time. The students took part in a treasure hunt that included creating treasure maps and costume hats! The teachers also built a “car wash” and the children cleaned their bikes, playground equipment, and anything they could find to run through this car wash. I know the church staff – myself included – wanted to join in and share in the great fun the children were having on car wash day! In other news, our 2018-19 Parent Board will be changing up some of the members and roles as we will have some parents rolling off after their two year commitment, and some new parents will be joining. We would like to thank Erica Granado, Jenna Zilka, Megan O’Malley and Audrey Margol for their incredible support, time and commitment to the preschool. They each have been outstanding in their roles on the Parent Board. Our Parent Board Chair Elyse Butler will become Chair Emeritus, and Mary Birkhauser will become our new Chair. Kate Burke, Michelle Kaylor, Alicia Phillips, Ashley Roth along with our new teacher representative, Jen Redding, will be joining our board as new members as well. All are dedicated and amazing individuals who will do a great job in supporting our preschool. We are blessed they hear God’s call to volunteer and give their time and energy to continually make our preschool the best it can be.
The preschool is hosting two summertime events at Lake Forest Market Square. Our first Music and Story Time event was on Tuesday, June 18 (see photos!), and the second one will be on Tuesday, July 16. It is a music and story time event from 9:00 – 9:30 AM outside on the grassy area with our Music teacher, Ami Crawford, along with our teacher Molly Jones. Together they will be singing songs and reading a story to the children. It is a community event and all are welcome, please come and join us on July 16!
