We made it through a Polar Vortex and an Ice Storm! We are so happy to hear that Punxsutawney Phil didn’t see his shadow- an early sign spring can be expected!! Even with all of the distractions this past month, the preschool has not missed a beat. We completed vision and hearing screening, parent teacher conferences, Valentine’s Day and now we are getting ready for our art fair and Ryan Nyland Toy Drive. Please mark your calendars, all are welcome to join us Saturday, March 9, 10:00-11:30am in Fellowship Hall.
The Art Fair will showcase three pieces of artwork per student displayed on the walls of Fellowship Hall, and a sculpture garden along with some group projects. Outside of Fellowship Hall a table will be open for people to donate to the Ryan Nyland Memorial Toy Drive.
This event honors the memory of the Nylands’ infant son Ryan who passed away 12 days after birth in 2003. The Nyland family sponsors the annual toy drive in gratitude to Lurie Children’s Hospital (formerly Children’s Memorial) for their compassionate neonatal care during that difficult time. The Nylands’ children, Samantha, Katie and Nick, each attended the Preschool. The Preschool is committed to teaching young children the joy of caring and sharing with others. This Outreach project makes sense to preschoolers because all have experienced not feeling well. Children and their families are asked to donate a new toy suitable for hospitalized preschoolers (that hopefully each child helped select) the morning of the Art Fair. The Nyland family will deliver the toys to Lurie on behalf of the Preschool following the Art Fair. Participation is voluntary.
As always, we are thankful for God’s ever present support and guidance in our lives at the preschool.
Blessings,
Kristina
